Bondi Junction LEP & DCP Review

New South Wales

Client | Waverley Council

The Bondi Junction Urban Design Review was commissioned jointly by Waverley Council and the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure to address a set of concerns about the planning environment in Bondi Junction.

An analysis of the Draft Waverley Comprehensive LEP 2011, the Draft Waverley DCP 2011, and the existing built form, resulted in the identification of key issues. These included the overshadowing of important public open space, the lack of flexibility arising from B4 Commercial Core zoning and the apparent opportunity for greater height in particular parts of the centre. In response to this, the principal recommendations of the review amount to a redistribution of development potential to capture opportunities and to avoid negative impacts.
