The High Street of Maitland is the principal public face of the city. Its renewal is a symbol of the determination by the city to flourish. It forms a distinctive ribbon which threads it way through central Maitland and passes very close to the Hunter River.

The team was appointed to develop a Master Plan that illustrates design ideas along the length of the street to facilitate the vision of Maitland becoming a truly vibrant city. The plan presents the opportunity to build on the distinct and vibrant identity of Central Maitland and create a setting which will address key themes identified in the Structure Plan. The master plan creates a strong ‘ribbon’ of public domain and distinct character areas.
